Plymouth Pillars Park

Opened January 14th, 2006

This Pro-Parks project has been under development for several years. Plans were once underway for a plaza covering most of the site. In April 2004, Parks advertised for construction bids. Bids for the original design came in higher than the budget, making the original design impossible to build. At that point, the community initiated efforts to turn the park into a dog off-leash area. In July 2005, the park was re-named Plymouth Pillars Park.

The off-leash area is roughly 9,800 square feet, with a long, narrow design with a fantastic scenic view of downtown! The surface is crushed rock, and there is a unique human/dog drinking fountain inside the park.

Plymouth Pillars And The Goats!

In August 2008, a herd of goats maintained on Vashon Island, were "rented" for a few days to help clear grass, weeds and blackberry vines at Plymouth Pillars OLA. This was the most urban assignment yet for the goats, and they were up to the challenge! Check out the photo below. Patrick Jones, a COLA Board Member commented, "It's a very green way of mowing down the weeds". We couldn't agree more!
